Spring Update

Hi there.  I was back on the blog bandwagon and then seemed to have slipped off.  I've been busy with other adventures but I swear I've been thinking of you.

Bowl for... guess who?
Time suck #1: I made many pots.  Many pots. Through my pottery class I replaced our generic store-bought bowls with a dozen+ of my hand made ones and some of them turned out kinda neat.  My favorites were the ones I made for people on my team at work.  Them with kiddos got a little bowl with their kiddos name on it.  I mangled one of them by putting the two layers of glaze on in the wrong order.  Glaze, you should know, is chemistry.  Unlike how yellow + blue equals green and blue + yellow still equals green in painting or food color, the order is very important and comes out with a vastly different result.  I was going for a matte pinkish/mauve with cream for the raised detail.  Instead I got a glossy greenish cream with splotches of mottled mauve.  But the others turned out super cute and more or less what I was going for.

I've also made remarkable progress on my annual goals.  In addition to the pottery class I've signed up for the half-ironman and training has been going pretty well.  I've lost about half the weight I want, am attending the Illahee lectures (even though they've been fairly bleh this year), read a couple books on happiness, did yoga every day for ~35 days in January/February, volunteered at the Holiday Half Marathon and am signed up to volunteer with Girls on the Run as a running buddy.  I also managed to cross work goals with personal goals and will be leading a Saturday work party with Friends of Forest Park to do trail maintenance and such.

One of the hand made journals you can find at our Etsy shop - buy now!

The biggest development is that I've officially started a business with my step-mom selling her lovely art.  We have an Etsy shop, SpringBoundStudio and have sold two journals!

Tired monkey!
Efforts at silly are hard to measure but just this morning I created a ridiculous survey for some co-workers that elicited some pretty amusing responses.  I've also been donning the monkey suit at every opportunity.

Still on deck are not buying anything for a month, running every day for 30 days (not sure when THAT is going to happen), no driving for a month (also hard to figure out), some more reading, a few more pounds and actually doing that half-ironman I've paid for.  I still have the better part of a year to go though, so stay tuned!

And eat more cake.  Or kale.  Or both.
