Getting twitchy

I'm coordinating a most massive 19-day event and my left eye has started twitching. The good news though is that the neck is doing pretty well.

If you want to know more about said massive event (13 days away!), check out the Business is Good! Tour link to the right.

That is all for now, I have much coordinating to do.

For the record - tequila doesn't keep your eyes from twitching. It does, however, make one not notice the twitching as much. And yes, I will be packing a bottle of tequila in my luggage to use, medicinally, while I'm on the road for this massive 19-day event.

Negligent Princess

I have been a bad bad princess. I apologize for giving no details or updates on all my many doings. My love arrived weeks and weeks ago and not a whisper of news from me. It is because I’ve been too busy WITH my love (and a family reunion and the release of the final Harry Potter and two jobs and everything else.)

But to make a very hasty summary –

My Christopher arrived and it is good. He has a great job and I get to see, smell, and pinch him every single day. Some days he smells better than others (but I don’t pinch harder no matter how smelly things get.) After six friggin’ months I was/am beyond happy to have him here. Every time one of us had to leave after a long weekend it got harder and harder and every Monday after was worse and worse. I felt like I was about to snap – oh wait I sort of did if you count the neck thing – so by the time he actually got here my overwhelming feeling was relief. A chance to let that part of the tension and stress of living dissolve a bit.

I have a job lined up for when my stint at Oregon Business Magazine wraps up in September. I had set July as a month for starting to think about future employment. I had just started to think and explore a few options when the publisher at Oregon Business sent me an email regarding her husband’s company – ITZ Publishing, a media consulting firm rapidly getting off the ground. We went out to lunch the next day to discuss a possible opportunity, it sounded really good, Thursday I met with Greg (her husband) and I actually started working that Friday! I’m 10 hours a week for now but go full time (with benefits!) in October! I am the “Operations Coordinator.” Essentially I’m there to make the whole operation run a little smoother. Connect with and keep clients happy, keep track of processes, support vendors, make hotel reservations, set up payroll, wash the windows and in general making sure that what needs doing actually gets done. Okay, so I’m not washing windows, but if they need washing I’ll find the window washer and get him up there. A lot of what I’m dealing with is somewhat mundane (checking voice messages) but there is a lot of opportunity to grow with the company and I can see myself working at ITZ for a number of years.

Our apartment is finally settled and feels like “home.” We have the Christopher, we have the puppy dog Samson and we even have a keg of Christopher’s home brew in the closet. Last night we got the final thing that we “need” (some folding chairs) at the new Ikea and tonight will have people over to drink some tequila. Guests may not actually want tequila (not everyone has the fortitude and temerity to be able to handle it) but I’LL be drinking tequila. Despite all these great events I still find myself with a bum neck and the doctor suggests de-stressing more than anything. Tequila counts I think.
