Weekend Warrior??

My weekend included:

* Bruised and scraped knuckles
* A bashed shin (complete with a purple, red, raised bruise)
* A chipped tooth
* A twisted ankle

Was I brawling at an Irish pub in honor of St. Patrick's Day this week?

No.

Was I rock climbing, kayaking, skateboarding or otherwise being active?

Afraid not.

I was doing laundry, stepping out of the bathtub, sewing and standing (respectively) when I sustained the above injuries. Pathetic isn't it??

I managed to scraped my knuckles along the rough concrete outside the laundry room. I was just stepping out of the tub (after caulking said tub) when I smashed up the shin. I was holding the needle in my teeth (brilliant eh?) when I chipped the front right one. The best - or should I say worst? - however, was when I was standing on an apparently unstable sidewalk and shifted my weight right into a broken section of the sidewalk and twisted my ankle as I nearly fell down. I was staring off into space (or rather at a guy far away who had a bunch of balloons) and was obviously not so cognizant of my physical surroundings.

Have no fear - I made it through the weekend and should be as good as new soon (well, with the exception of the customized tooth.)

Be careful out there!

ALMOST spring

So yes, we had an ice storm last week and yes, the highs barely break 40 (before factoring in the wind chill) and the lows are still in the 20's, HOWEVER I can feel a whisper of spring.

Overall there is way more sunlight. Every day feels noticably longer and the sun is getting higher. And though the temperature is still pretty low and there is still what feels like a glacial wind, it isn't quite as sharp as it was. The sun is just slightly softening out the edges of the wind and thawing out the ground ever so much.

I'm really (really really) ready for spring. I think my skin starts to get moldy from lack of exposure to sun and air.

Rationing Underwear

I don't even remember when it was I last did laundry. About ten days ago I started to run low on undies and was forced to institute a system of rationing to curb extravagantusage. For example, if I take a shower in the evening and put on a fresh pair, there is no putting on ANOTHER fresh pair that next morning. And even if I've been sweating up a storm biking, running or otherwise altheticizing there are no two-pair days allowed. I've alternated a bit between wearing a pair for a day and a half and going sans-muntande for a half a day or so. Particularly at night or after the gym I've gone undergarmentless. It has actually been somewhat nice. Helped me rid my attachment to underwear. At first it is a little bit disconcerting, but you'd be surprised how quickly one adjusts. Note: Be sure to have a secure fly to your pants if trying this (and remember to zip it up.)

I'm down to one more pair. Luckily, however, it is Thursday and Saturday morning I can do laundry. Probably.
