Happy Home
My what a whirl-wind this year has been: bought a house, got engaged, got married, got a new job, biked around the state.
I don't think I've mentioned that job bit to most people. I've been kinda busy with that new job.
Tuesday after the wedding (the last house guest had just departed), I got a call from a company I'd interviewed with previously. Though they hadn't picked me for that earlier position, they wanted to know if I was interested in another potential position. A few days later (it was just shy of three weeks after the wedding) I started the new job!
I work for an energy efficiency consulting company. We've quadrupled in size in the last two years and do a whole slew of things. My sector deals mostly with grocers and commercial refrigeration. We help grocers (from the mini-mart on the corner to the 100,000 sq foot mega supermarket) find opportunities to be more efficient and connect them with incentives (through utilities) that help them buy the things or do the work that lets them be more energy efficient. My team in particular handles national supermarket chains and the coordination of projects that span multiple regions & multiple utility districts.
In general the company is way neato-burrito. Very smart, hard-working, positive people that I get to work with, doing great things, and doing a very good job in the industry. TONS to learn and TONS OF TONS to do, but I've always like a challenge - especially for a good reason.
On the home front things are settling in and are pretty quiet. We are back to exploring happy hours, beer joints and local pubs. A few little adventures here and there. Got a dog run built in the back (just in time for the rains to settle in), started frequenting the new, local yoga studio. Nothing terribly exciting. I figure that's okay though. We crammed a lot into the first 9 months of the year. I say we try and take it easy for the remainder of 2008.
