Alaska, Here I Come!
I leave for Alaska TOMORROW.
We bought all our camping food this weekend and took care of most everything we needed to do to prepare. I finished up all but a couple little things today. Tomorrow I will go to the gym, do a couple quick errands, pack and then GO TO ALASKA!
We have an evening flight out of San Francisco, get into Anchorage painfully late, then have an even more painfully early bus up to Denali National Park. There we shall camp at Savage River for three nights and then Wonder Lake for three nights. This will be followed by one night with my baby brother at his apartment and then a couple of days of waywardness. We might camp some more, we might loiter in Anchorage, we might hop down to Seward for a look at the oceanic glaciers. Who knows!
Hopefully we will get to see Mt. McKinley (THE humungoid mountain which is obscured by weather most of the time), the northern lights (it is just getting dark at nights now) and other gorgeousnesses. Hopefully we won't get rained on too much (it has been raining there all summer), or eaten by things large (such as bears) or small (such as killer mosquitos.)
In any case, it will be an adventure and I promise to share photos and stories!
